Chennai Super Kings

18th April 2010

M.S.Dhoni is sometimes a worst captain. It is just basic to know the pitch behaviour at Chennai Chidambaram Stadium. Just the other day. Kolkatta Knight Riders batting first had to struggle. The pitch becomes batsmen friendly as the match progresses. How did Dhoni could miss this simple basic acumen is not known. Unnecessarily he put the batsmen to swords by batting first against Delhi Dare Devils.

His captaincy and batting is on the downside. His only plus points are his coolness not putting shivers on players. He takes the games with cool not pressurizing players.

Today the match with Kings XI Punjab is an easy match for them. If they loose then you can say that this is a weak team run by a weak captain.

The team very much depends on Murali Vijay. If he clicks well then CSK has to win. Hayden should be dropped. His talents are over. Mongoose bat spoiled his career. Ashwin should come out good with at least 3 wickets. The combination of Murali Vijay and Ashwin could win the match for CSK.

The players who could play a support role are Raina, Morkel, Bolinger, whose good performance will win match for CSK. The former two in their batting and the latter with his bowling.

The other players should well support with their fielding and catching to win the match.

When Hayden was out, it was certain that CSK is going to lose the match.

Luck always seemed favouring Bangalore Royals. Three catches dropped was serious in itself. The later two catches dropped by Aswin and Vijay of Uttappa when he was just 5 & 25 is the primary cause of CSK losing the match.

Bowling of Balaji at the fag end of the overs too proved costly. It seems now Balaji bowling is easy to drive through. He has been giving lots of runs in the last two matches that he has been playing. There is something serious concern about this. But that does

not mean that he should be dropped unless some other Chennai lad can fill his gap. Surely he should not be replaced with a player of other states usually North Indians.

Players like Vignesh and Satish could have turned the table in favour of CSK.

As for the bowling of Praveen Kumar and Kumble of Royal Challengers, they did a superb job in controlling the runs initially which built up the pressure and the run out of Hayden. All credit goes to Kumble and then his team.
